The Place of Endless Lights

by Katy Hollamby

Aria Nightingale knows one thing for certain: she can never stop running.

Sharp-clawed tunnellers have seized her town, imprisoning everyone in a fear-filled sleep. Desperate to keep her little brother safe, Aria flees.

While her brother dreams of finding the fabled Place of Endless Lights, Aria’s not sure it exists. But when desperate events force them to accept the help of the mysterious Trailmaker and a collection of talking animals, everything Aria knows unravels. The Trailmaker promises a way out, but can he be trusted? Is there truly a place where fear loses its power?

Perfect for readers aged 8-11, The Place of Endless Lights takes readers on a beautifully illustrated, faith-inspired adventure to find courage, kindness and the lights that never go out.

Katy has crafted a beautiful story of hope and trust amid the storms of life. I pray that many will come to know The Trailmaker through this story.

This book needs to come with a warning, it is very hard to put down! From scary Tunnellers to talking creatures, family bonds and adventure trails, this book has it all. In a world full of fear and darkness, Katy brings her readers on a trail to light. Aria and her brother, along with their other wonderful companions demonstrate how fear holds us all in different ways, and though we all face different fears we are all drawn to the light. Whether you are 7 or 70+ this book exciting, enchanting and full of truth. May this book bless and fill you with as much joy as it did me. The trails await!

Katy has written a wonderful adventure story of wild imagination with lovable children and surprising animals who experience a full range of emotions from terror to trust. Be prepared for tears and laughter and find out who the trailmaker really is. A book not to be missed

Wow – this story is such a blessing to my soul!

Katy has gently and courageously woven together light and dark, people and animals, hope and fear, and created a story that affirms our human experience, whilst turning our hearts towards hope and light.

With some of my favourite facets of CS Lewis’ Narnia, and Enid Blyton’s Far away tree, this story is somehow warm and familiar, whilst also being daring, ground breaking and extraordinarily brand new.

Following Aria and Danny on their journey, understanding the world from their perspective, and witness that change and shift in them was such a gift. I can’t wait for my daughter to read it, and for us as a family to have a whole new language to help us navigate the emotions of growing up, and to help us all seek out the place of endless lights, and maybe the best cup of hot chocolate I’ve ever read about!

What an absolutely beautiful book, made me both laugh and cry. Written for age 7-11 year olds, but thoroughly enjoyed by this 50+ year old adult. I only wish my adult sons were of an age I was still reading them bedtime stories, so I could read this to them.
A book about adventures galore, facing your fears and discovering that, when you are able to face your fears, they are no longer as scary as you originally thought. All accompanied by lashings of comforting hot chocolate, and a tuba solo – two of my favourite things. Absolutely enchanting. Thank you.

What a wonderful book! Having not managed to find the time to sit and read it, despite enjoying the beautiful illustrations , I was delighted to find that there was an audio version. Katy’s reading is flawless and entertaining AND you get to hear her actually sing The Song which describes the Place of Endless Lights .The writing is poetic and atmospheric, but also pacy and full of humour with engaging characters. There’s a real depth to the book too .It’s a great read and food for thought, even for the over 60s!

I read “The place of Endless Lights” yesterday. I was gripped from the first page and couldn’t put the book down. This book is wonderfully written for children, but as an adult there were depths that touched my soul. I cannot wait for these books to arrive at my primary school.

Katy has created a world that you can’t help but fall into, and fall in love with. Its pages have given me respite on tricky days and its message has stuck with me long after closing. I have recommended it to anyone who will listen, and can’t stop talking about it!

My favourite book of 2025. Privileged to be front row to Katy’s incredible illustrations and writings over the years BUT this book just encapsulates everything in one marvellous adventure story with Aria and Danny. It made me crave honey sandwiches and arm chair cups of tea whilst raising interesting conversations with my four year old about hope and faith and what different types of bravery look like.

Can’t wait to listen to the audio version in the car over Christmas journeys ❤️ a must read.

Magical, joyful, hopeful. This book is written beautifully, with delicately woven writing that at times feels more like your seeing a painting then reading. Katy Hollomby has created an amazing world which is both fantastical and hits to the heart of what it means to be human and our need for Jesus. The characters are wonderfully funny and complex and stay with you for a long time. It is cleverly written book which engages and inspires young minds whilst at the same time whispers wisdom and encouragement to older readers too; especially ones who have lost excitement for adventure trails or are searching to find a light in a dark place.

This is an extraordinary book. I love the storyline, I love the characters, the fun, the imagination, the wild similes, the humanity in each adventure. But I think what I love most is that the author has laid her soul bare and has therefore been able to write something that takes you to the heart of who I am; and who I want to be. Her acute understanding of the way fear and anxiety affect us makes this not only a great read, but profoundly helpful and lastingly hopeful.
