Submissions

We are actively looking for Christian Fiction that helps people walk with Jesus in their everyday life, and crossover fiction that brings Jesus into the General Market.

We accept submissions of Adult Fiction, Children’s fiction, True Stories and Non-fiction/Christian Living. We are most interested in stories that honour God and the Bible, encourage a living faith, and point people to Jesus (whether directly or indirectly). We believe God wants to transform the Christian fiction market, so we are particularly keen to support fiction writers.

We are least interested in devotionals as there are many other publishing houses available for devotional material. Broad Place Publishing does not accept poetry, but you can submit poetry to our sister imprint, Into the World Press.

Please note, we can currently only accept submissions from authors residing in the UK.

Authors who submit must agree with our Statement of Faith.

Submissions Options

To submit to Broad Place Publishing, please download and complete our submissions form. This document asks about you, your manuscript, your reasons for writing and who your intended reader is. There is also space to provide a synopsis of your manuscript. Please consider the list of what we do and do not accept (above) before you submit.

We consider submissions in the last week of each month, so we will get back to you during the first week of the following month. If you haven’t heard from us after 6 weeks, please contact us.

We have three submissions options, which are detailed below:

Synopsis Submission

— pitch Us your idea –

Complete our submissions form and return it with the first two chapters of your work to the email address given on the form.

We will consider your work and let you know whether we can take it further, but we will not supply detailed feedback.

There is no charge for a basic submission.

Short Review

— A review of your first few chapters or children’s book –

If you would like more feedback than we can give under our free submissions option, a short review may be for you.

Please complete our submissions form and supply a copy of the first 8,000 words of your manuscript, to the nearest chapter.

This is also suitable for you if you have written a children’s book, in which case supply your entire manuscript (if it is less than 10,000 words).

After receiving your review request, submissions form and manuscript, we will conduct a comprehensive review of your submission, supplying detailed, constructive feedback on any aspects that may need work. We will reply with our suggestions for your best next steps and whether we are interested in taking it further.

We cannot guarantee that we will publish your work if you take out this service, but we will consider it prayerfully.

The cost for a starter Submission is £100. Please supply your manuscript in Microsoft Word file format (doc/docx).

    Comprehensive Manuscript Review

    — make your manuscript the best it can be –

Our Manuscript Review Service is a high quality, developmental review of your entire manuscript. It is not a line-edit, where we do it all for you, but is intended to help you improve your work so it’s ready for market. Firstly, we’ll read your manuscript and give you detailed, constructive criticism on any aspects that may need work. These might include, but are not limited to:

    – Style, point of view and narrative voice.

    – Characterisation & pacing.

    – Structure and plot

    – Show & tell, dialogue and proportion.

    – For non-fiction, the balance of original voice and content.

    – Potential marketability.

Secondly, our review service is an opportunity to have someone pray over your manuscript and where God wants to take it. We will feedback on whether it fits our vision and values, i.e. whether it is God-honouring, Faith-building, and of excellent quality.

Many publishers charge upwards of £800 for a Manuscript Review, but our prices range from £200, depending on the length and genre. A typical 60k word manuscript might cost £300.

In addition to the above, we offer these further benefits:

    – A personalised action plan to get your manuscript to industry standards, including advice on further editing that might be needed.

    – Detailed analysis of publishing options and our recommendations.

    – Transparent advice about money and an estimate of publishing costs.

We cannot guarantee that we will publish your work if you take out this service, but we will consider it prayerfully. If you implement our advice, you have a much greater chance of receiving a publishing offer.

    Statement of Faith

    We believe:

    1. The Bible is Holy Spirit inspired in its entirety. It is God’s living Word and the truth we live by.

    2. God is loving and good, but also holy and just, and sin separates mankind from God.

    3. Jesus is the Son of God. He was born of the Holy Spirit and lived on earth to reveal the Father to mankind. His atoning death and bodily resurrection are the means by which we can be reconciled to God forever. Faith in Jesus is the only way to have eternal life.

    4. The Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of all who follow Jesus. He is our guide and our inspiration, and we can learn to hear His voice. His gifts, authority and power enable us to speak about and demonstrate His Kingdom on earth.
