About Chris Horwood

Chris Horwood has been in full-time Christian ministry for 35 years — pastoring and overseeing churches, teaching in Bible Schools, and helping communities navigate some of their most difficult seasons. He’s no stranger to suffering. A decade ago, his first wife died of cancer, leaving him to wrestle with questions of faith, God’s goodness, and how to trust Him when answers don’t come easily.
Now, facing his own prostate cancer diagnosis, Chris finds himself in familiar and yet entirely new territory.
A Pastor’s Honest Journey Through Cancer and Faith
Chris made a deliberate decision: to write The Waiting and Not Knowing before he knows the outcome. Not as a polished reflection from the other side, but from inside the waiting — while the fears are still real, the questions still raw, and the silence of God still something to navigate rather than explain away.
‘Many people facing cancer tell me that one of the worst things is the waiting and not knowing,’ Chris says. ‘That is why I had to write this book now, while those things are still very real to me.’
Why This Christian Cancer Book Is Different
For Christians facing cancer, finding resources that speak honestly into that experience — before the testimony, before the resolution — can feel almost impossible. Most books about faith and cancer are written looking back. This one is written from inside the storm.
With 45 years of faith and a lifetime of biblical study, Chris writes not as a detached theologian but as a fellow traveller — honest about the struggle of trusting God through cancer, and quietly pointing the way to the God who meets us in it.

A Companion for Your Cancer Journey
The Waiting and Not Knowing is a companion for the season nobody asks for. Short chapters, honest pages — written for Christians navigating a cancer journey, for those who love them, and for anyone in church leadership wanting to better understand what this experience really feels like from the inside. Whether you’re waiting for results, processing a diagnosis, or simply trying to hold onto faith in the middle of suffering, this book was written for you.
