Joy Vee is a Lincoln-based author, co-founder of Broad Place Publishing, and a lifelong follower of Jesus. She writes for children and adults alike — always with warmth, honesty, and a deep desire to share what life with God actually looks like day to day.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself — where you live and who you live with?
I live in Lincoln — which is actually the city I was born in, but I was away for around 30 years. I returned in 2022, having lived in Ukraine, Russia, and Scotland, as well as various places in England. My children are grown up and in the process of spreading their wings, so at any one time, I never really know who I live with!
So, why did you start writing?
I’ve always written newsletters and family updates, but I began writing more seriously in 2019, when I wrote a book for my niece as her Christmas present. As she is one of three children, I needed to keep writing until everyone had a book! Then my daughter asked me for one.
What do you want your writing to communicate?
I specifically want to use my writing to share the lessons I have learned from a lifetime of following Jesus. I enjoy writing these things in a way that’s easy to understand — especially for children to access. If our children read a book and learn the lessons it took me years to learn, how much further can they go than I have ever dreamed? I want my writing to share that life with Jesus is the most exciting way to live.
What keeps you writing on your darkest day? What’s your passion?
I don’t! On my darkest days, I rest and enjoy chocolate! Maybe it’s the joy of just turning 50, but I’m beginning to learn to listen when my body and mind are too overwhelmed to work, and rest when I need to. My passion is for people to enjoy living with Jesus — but the longer I walk with Him, the more unpredictable He is, and the more often I find Him in the quiet, restful places.
What’s next for you?
My Joint Bank Account with Jesus is releasing in August and shares about my journey sharing my finances with Jesus since I opened my first bank account. (You can read more about it below.) I’m considering writing a book that builds on this one — looking at other areas of life with Jesus: how we parented our children with Him, how we navigate health issues with Him, and all sorts of things like that. I’m also writing a funny book about a Christian Writers Retreat. Not sure if that will ever be published, but it is a lot of fun writing it.
