The Place of Endless Lights

The Place of Endless Lights

A Christian book for anxious children

Finding the right Christian books for anxious children can be challenging. The Place of Endless Lights was written to meet children right where they are – in the middle of their worries – and show them how Jesus brings light to even the darkest places.

The heart of ‘The Place of Endless Lights’ is about finding courage. Katy says, “Courage turned out to be different for me than charging about being a hero, or summoning up inner strength. This is what I read in lots of children’s books. But sometimes courage looks like standing still and facing our worries, sometimes it looks like searching for lights even though it is very very dark, and sometimes it is about holding on and finding ourselves held by someone bigger than ourselves.”

We really believe that Jesus has things to say about how we face anxiety with him, and there is so much anxiety amongst children at the moment. We long to give them some tools and ideas to hold on to, to help them know Jesus as they walk through their feelings.

Who is The Place of Endless Lights written for?

This book is perfect for 7-11 year olds, and is especially aimed at those children struggling with anxious thoughts, to bring hope and light to that place. If you’re looking for Christian books for anxious children that offer more than coping strategies – books that point to Jesus as the answer – this story was written with your child in mind.

What the professionals are saying:

“As an experienced creative therapist who has worked with hundreds of children and young people, I can imagine a story like this helping children process and work through their own powerful emotions and feelings around worry, fear and overcoming those fears by looking to Jesus. Katy’s use of story and imagination helps the reader to connect with Jesus in a new powerful way.” — Amy Woodfield, Dramatherapist

“Katy beautifully portrays the struggle we all have with fear and how the presence of Jesus meets us with love and light right where we are. This book is the perfect antidote to struggles with poor emotional wellbeing, bringing a huge dose of security, peace and hope.” — Beth Myring, General Manager, Lifecentre Salford

“This captivating and beautiful story is highly recommended for children of all ages. It will take you into a world of hope and truth and wonder.” — Chris Lane, Tutor at St Mellitus College and Emmanuel Theological College

A faith-based resource for childhood anxiety

There are so many books out there, but this Christian children’s book about courage and faith offers something unique.

This book will:

  • Give the child hope that there is nowhere too dark for Jesus to light up
  • Give the child courage to face their anxieties and know they are not alone
  • Give children an image of the One who holds them, even when they are afraid

Unlike many books that simply tell kids to ‘be brave,’ The Place of Endless Lights shows them that true courage sometimes means standing firm in the face of fear, holding on, and letting Jesus hold them through their fears.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or ministry leader searching for Christian books for anxious children, The Place of Endless Lights offers biblical hope wrapped in an engaging story that speaks directly to young hearts.

Trust is hard,’ the Trailmaker said quietly.

She glanced at him, but his face was hidden, shadowy under the leaves of the tree. ‘It’s very difficult to believe things that don’t seem to make sense,’ he said. ‘But it doesn’t mean they’re not true.’

‘That’s what George said,’ she agreed. ‘He also said that I have to stop running before I can sing. But that doesn’t make sense either. I don’t want to hear what the tunnellers have to say. It’s so horrible.’ She put her arms around herself. Wings shuffled above them as an owl came to rest. ‘I watched them scare Mrs Fronkle until she slept. Right in front of my eyes. I think she was afraid of losing her shop.’

If anyone was going to end up falling asleep, Aria thought, surely it’s me, with what Mum called my ‘wild imaginings’. I’m scared of everything.

‘I can see you’re scared, Aria,’ The Trailmaker said. Had he just read her thoughts? ‘Scared of Lady Drain and the tunnellers. Scared they will put you to sleep.’

‘So how do I stop feeling scared?’ she asked.

‘You can’t. Not straight away. We don’t choose our feelings. But you can choose what to do next.’

Aria wrinkled her nose. She knew what she would choose to do. The thing she did best.

‘Running isn’t always the best option,’ the Trailmaker said. ‘You could choose to face them, and answer with the truth.’

‘Is that what you want me to sing? The answers? The truth?’ She peered through the darkness, trying to make out his face.

‘I did try to sing,’ Aria said. ‘But I suppose I don’t know the answers to the questions. I don’t know what is true. I tried to sing when I was stuck on the cliff but all that came out was a horrible, strangled noise. It sounded like Dilly-from-43’s cat when Danny accidentally stood on its tail.’

‘That bad?’ the Trailmaker said. She could hear the smile in his voice.

Aria’s eyebrows puckered. ‘It didn’t even work,’ she said. ‘You didn’t hear me.’

‘Didn’t I?’
